Background

The MSCA Doctoral Network NERVSPAN is a consortium of C. elegans labs across Europe including Magnitude Biosciences Limited, a commercial contract research company based near Durham in the UK.

 

Magnitude Biosciences in collaboration with the organisers of the UK Worm Meeting are delighted to host a workshop for NERVSPAN students and other Early Career Researchers on using C. elegans research in a commercial environment and interacting with industry.

Wednesday 2nd April

• 1:55 pm – NERVSPAN Members: Meet at Durham University Palatine Centre to catch 2:00 pm bus to NETPark.

• 2:30 pm – NERVSPAN Members: Tour of Magnitude Biosciences Ltd, NETPark, Sedgefield & Informal Discussion with Magnitude Staff.

• 4:30 pm – Workshop Registration | Collingwood College, Durham University.

• 5:00 pm – Introduction: David Weinkove, Chief Scientific Officer & Founder, Magnitude Biosciences.

• 5:20 pm – A Career in Industry from PhD to CEO: Fozia Saleem, CEO, Magnitude Biosciences.

• 6:00 pm – Break.

• 6:30 pm – Dinner & Informal Discussion | Collingwood College.

• 8:30 pm onwards – Pub.

 

Thursday 3rd April

 

• 9:00 am – Marco Giorda, Altos Labs, Cambridge. 

• 9:40 am – David Weinkove – Working with Industrial Partners to Deliver C. elegans-Based Solutions.

• 10:00 am – Workshop Group Activity: Design an Offering for Industrial Use.

• 11:00 am – Presentation of Ideas to Panel (Marco Giorda, David Weinkove, Fozia Saleem, Denis Dupuy) & Discussion.

• 12:00 pm – Workshop Close (and join the main C. elegans Meeting.
